News from NETS

January 2012 marked the seven year anniversary of our time here in Africa. We are so grateful to God for the way that he has guided and protected us during our time here – first in Lesotho and now in Namibia.

Grove packs 860 Shoe Boxes for Link Romania

A very big ‘Thank you’ to everyone who gave contributions of goods, time and/or money to the Shoebox Appeal this year – and especially to Paulette, who did a marvellous job of publicity and pre-packing organisation. The boxes were collected on Tuesday and are now being packed by Link Romania ready for their journey across Europe. The final total of boxes from our Church was almost 500 shoeboxes, and including the surrounding area the figure totalled 860. We made lots of new contacts, including several schools. John has offered to visit them next year and give them much more information, which we hope will result in an even higher number of boxes. Once again – a big ‘Thank you’ to everyone!

John & Margaret Willemsen,

430 Shoe Boxes and counting

In the two weeks following Shoe Box Sunday (16 Oct 2011) over 100 more packed shoe boxes have been donated bringing the total so far to 430.

We hope to bring the total to 530 at our second shoe box packing session which is on Sunday 6 November at Grove CE School after our morning service, starting about 1pm.

327 Shoe Boxes and counting

Shoe box Sunday has come and gone.

327 shoe boxes were packed on the day, with £404 donated towards transport costs.

Thanks to all who took part and gave so generously of their time and money.

Visitors included county councillor Zoe Patrick

There are some empty shoe boxes left waiting to be packed and some of the goods needed to fill them. So we are holding another packing afternoon on Nov 6 at Grove C of E School after GFEC's morning service. To help us use up the remaining items effectively we still need:

  • Men's toiletries
  • 200ml bottles of shampoo etc
