Annual Report 2010-11
Funday Club is a ministry that seeks to share the love of Jesus with local unchurched children of primary school age and their families. This is principally through running events for children and their families where those in the church model the example of Christ in welcoming and accepting children – loving unconditionally.
Go Mad
In the summer we ran a 5 day holiday club using a resource that was a one off from Christian Aid, called Go Mad meaning Go Make a Difference. After the earthquake in Haiti we thought it would be good to share stories from the Bible that are relevant to children in the third world and how God is the same God today as He was in Bible times. We had 40+ children turn up to join in the week's fun. We were once again very encouraged by the number of young people in the church who took part.
Family Funday Club
It was very exciting to be able to start a new outreach in October 2010 using Cornerstone for its base. Family Funday Club is held on the 1st Friday of every month. It is a time for families to get together to relax, join in some fun craft activities or table top games and enjoy a meal together. From the first week we had a very good response with approximately 35 people turning up. It has now grown to 45-50 regulars in the 7 months we have been going. There are a good number of new families that we haven't had contact with before, plus families that we have come to know through past Funday Club events.
In October we held an alternative Halloween party that went down well, again a good number of the children from previous Funday Clubs came along.
Future plans
We look forward later on this year to starting a Café Church on the third Friday in the month with the opportunity of more Bible teaching.
Please pray that God will guide as we plan and work in the hearts of the families that join with us on Fridays.
We thank God for all who have helped at the holiday clubs and at Family Funday Club.
